It’s almost a monthly occurrence that a large, international corporation suffers a massive data breach. Combine this with the thousands of online banking, email & social media accounts that are hacked everyday and it seems like passwords are less secure than the spare key I leave in a flowerpot next to my front door.
This video from CNBC provides some accessible background info on passwords, online identity and the costs of data breaches, as well as explaining how accounts can be made more secure by combining passwords with other forms of identification.
This is why we placed biometric identification at the heart of Self. There are no passwords to be stolen (or forgotten..), only your fingerprint or retina scan will allow access to your information. And because that information is stored ONLY on your device, there’s no risk of a business’ servers being compromised and your personal details being stolen.
